It's Tom Hardy as Bane for Dark Knight Rises.

Not fanboying here (I'm not even that into Batman), just an observation: He's too muscular to be pre-Venom Bane, and not muscular enough to be post-Venom Bane.

Agreed.

Taken in the context of Nolan's semi-realistic Batverse, I'd say he's good enough to be post-Venom Bane, or they may have also changed the nature of Venom to make more sense in-universe, like it's a drug he takes intermittently like some kind of super steroid rather than one that just makes him huge right after he takes it.  Which would make more sense for an in-between kind of muscular look.  Just a thought.

aye.  i'm thinking you're right.  after all, the Joker seemed a lot more like a mentally damaged person who was either mutilated or mutilated himself than... OHAI GUIZE THIS BIG GRIN IS FROM BEING DUMPED IN A TANK OF TOXICNESS.

i sooooorta like it.

i'm waiting on real Catwoman pics, myself.  not cause of ooosexy insomuch as the casting just baffling me.  then again, Ledger baffled me and couldn't have been a better casting, so i can't make that call until i SEE it.

Bane's casting actually baffles me more, because while Anne Hathaway hasnt been in any Catwoman like roles in her career to really go off, she at least looks like she could be selina kyle, physically speaking.

Meanwhile, they changed Bane's race.  The fucker's hispanic, not British.  WTH, Nolan.

race, okay.

but no.  hathaway doesn't look like selina kyle, physically speaking.  physically speaking, i have never seen her (in role or out of role) look like anything but one half herpderpy clumsy dork and one half goody-two-shoes princess.  her FACE is part of how she LOOKS and she looks like, when presented with the script, she had to ask what a prostitute was.

but then, ledger was "how's a gay cowboy/that guy from first knight gonna play THE JOKER?!?!?!?!" and... look how THAT turned out.

i can't count it out.  i just can't fucking imagine anne hathaway as 'sultry'.  i can imagine rupaul pulling off that role faster than anne fucking hathaway.

Now, is that Catwoman?  No, not really, but it's a lot closer than her normal character types.  I'm with you that it's against type, I am.  I'm just saying Anne Hathaway as Catwoman feels more reasonable, if possibly still incorrect, than casting Tom Hardy in a role that would be better fit for Javier Bardem.

On the other hand, as you point out, we were all bitching when Ledger was cast, so wtf do we know?

kinda sorta?  I mean, the character she plays in Havoc is sort of creep in her own right.  It's a decent flick, nothing special, but it's the only other time I've seen her cast against type.  So yeah.
