So i have always written RP's listening to music, and it used to be that i could write to anything. But now with a new character it feels as if i need a certain brand of music for me to exhibit any creativity. One of my favorite bands of all time is CCR, but there is NO WAY i could write an rp listening to them.
So what do you listen to you when you write. I have three bands.
NIN -- mostley the ghosts collections. Just some awesome music without lyrics that really gets my emotions and in turn my creativity burning.
The doors -- Dont know what it is about listening to the doors when writing but it helps mucho much.
Coldplay -- I REALLY cant explain this one.
I have a huge playlist.
Nine Inch Nails, Alice in Chains, Manson, Metallica, Perfect Circle, Tool, AFI, Johnny Cash, Muse, Nick Cave, Rob Zombie, etc.

We share a lot of artists...but I've been delving into Nox Arcana a lot too.
Yeah Tool and Johnny Cash seem to be excellent to write to as well. Actually i am gonna go update my playlist now haha.

CCR makes me too happy! haha. I just wanna groove and i focus on how awesome the lyrics are and then i cant think of my own words hahah.
eh i was a stoner and schooled on music by my deceased hippie father lol ccr just mellows me out and my character has a lot of my outlooks...she's a southern girl like me with a love for classic rock and hair metal
Mine really depends on who and what I'm writing... To get into the mood, I usually listen to the entrance theme of whoever I'm writin' with and then go from there. Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Rich Ward and anything country are when I'm in the mood with Ryann... I write with poppy stuff, Lady Gaga, FOB, Ne-Yo, with Maria and Alexa... Just really depends on what I'm doing.
Changes all the time. More often than not, it's in silence as I write when I'm at work or on my own with the dog, who dislikes the volumes I prefer.
Sometimes silence. When I'm looking for a specific mood or tone the songs change.
My primary rping playlist contains A Perfect Circle, Cold, Tragically Hip, Evanescence, Rammstein, The Doors, Shinedown, Pink Floyd and the entirety of both the Come In And Burn and Weight albums by Rollins Band.

Of course, like everyone it changes, but I have a current playlist of 40 songs for Ennis right now. Bands/Artists include: The Dust Brothers, Emilie Autumn, Iron Maiden, Lamb of God, Metallica, Metric, MSTRKRFT, Muse, Nightwish, Offspring, Semi Precious Weapons, Slayer, Tiger Army, Tool, Trivium, Mass Effect and Halo Soundtracks.
The vast majority of the bands i see from you all show good taste, cept for a glaring few (I'm looking at you Coldplay, and you, Rammstein.) Still, mostly good shit guys. Thumbs up.
A lot of hip hop artists like Cage, Necro, Esoteric, and Slow Suicide Stimulus.
I also can get into a bit of thrash like Some Girls, These are Powers, and The Locust.
Fuck, sometimes I even get folky with Crosby Stills and Nash, Fleet Foxes, and The Dodos.
It really depends on the mood... for the most part, Necro is my writing music I'd say.
I fuckin love CCR. For Parker I listen to Queen, The Clash, Alice Cooper, Thin Lizzy, Ram Jam, Foghat, MGMT, The Fashion, Beach Boys, Radiohead, and lots of other classic rock or 80s shit. Random, but helps bring out the kind of character im developing. I just picture a lot of these songs playin to the soundtrack of his life. Sometimes I will listen to a song on repeat while I'm writing, just so i get the right feel for it.

me third. Though I do this less for RP's and more for short stories. Still, it's been known to happen. I had "Gone Away" by Offspring and "where the moss slowly grows" by Tiger army on repeat for this story I wrote for one of my classes this year.
I actually like listening to and imagining happy, cheerful songs during very serious situations. Ha.
