not sure EXACTLY what's up right now.  i suspect hard drive failure.  it shows the Dell boot screen, but instead of proceeding into the Windows loading screen, the cursor just sits there and blinks.  it's also not booting from disc.

and of course, it had to happen in the middle of moving, when i have neither time nor money for this kind of nonsense.

so if you see my presence online, i'm probably on my iPhone, ps3 browser (which is like impossible to friggin' type on) or alternatively on someone else's computer.  i won't even be able to get on the library ones where i'm headed because i won't have proof of residency for a bit.  if i make this coming deadline, it'll likely be just by getting computer time at my mom's.

anybody who... has ideas on this, or knows someone who needs to get rid of a laptop cheap (if it's running and has a working keyboard that's all i particularly care about at this juncture), get at me.

If it was just the hard drive, you could boot from a disk. Could be a dozen things.

You can get decently cheap laptops on ebay (or other auction sites), so long as you are willing to get one at least 4 years old. If all you need is a word processor, then an old laptop should do the job.

eeeh.  this thing needs work done on it to start with due to the keyboard...  if i could get it to boot from disc, though, i'd be alright with wiping the hard drive.  most of my writing that was on it is cached around the internet if i want it, Trillian has my chat history backed up, most of the music i can't live without's on my iPhone now...

was looking around eBay just a little while ago.  it could be an option in the near future...

just...

sigh.

lose-everything moving again + wonky blood sugar problems + computer failure = i might have a spare buck and scrap o' sanity next year.
