Sad Thread Ahead.

Hey guys.

I got a call yesterday from my stepmother. My Grandma Agnes passed away early that morning. This grandmother was my birthmother's mom. My birthmother passed away when I was a toddler. Her sister, my Aunt Maureen, passed away a few years ago. My Uncle Frank had his leg amputated a few years after that, and my Grandmother was taking good care of him.

She fell an broke her hip in November, and every time I tried to go see her, something else happened. Another surgery, some setback, SOMETHING. She got an infection in her hip after the surgery. It spread through her bloodstream and it got the better of her.

A lot of what makes Ainsley who she is started with my Grandmother. The strength, the Irish pride, the devotion to God and country... All of that comes from the O'Brien family.

I'm sorry if what I write this week might be a little sad. Her wake is Tuesday and her funeral is Wednesday. She would have been 86 on Wednesday. I wish she had been able to get to know Sean more. I wish she had been able to come to my wedding. I wish I would have been more understanding about her not telling me how my birthmother died. I wish I had saved gas money and seen her more often. I have a hundred regrets right now.

Good vibes, hugs, horrible jokes about dead grandmothers and digging up the bodies are all welcome.

Loss sucks, it's never easy... Believe me I've dealt with enough the last month of my life to know how you're feeling about regret.  Just keep this in mind, the person you lost, is never really lost.  They'll always be in your heart, close to you, watching over you.  They don't hold those things you regret against you and know how much you loved them.

Just smile, remember the good you had, and never let the others close to you forget what an amazing person you had.  Honor their memory.

I honestly hope and pray that you get through this.  Thoughts are with you and your family.

Thanks for the love, guys. I'm calling the American Red Cross so they can inform Sean. This is just... it's terrible. But I know that Sean would want to know, he wouldn't want me to withhold information about a death. His family has done that to him before, and he would be heartbroken if I did it to him, too.

Yeah, You won't hear any off-color from me...  I'm not a fan of tragedy involving good people...

HOWEVER, there's too many bad ones out there not getting what they fucking deserve, and those people are why G.R. was created....
